Hi Sam,

My name is Ehon and amongst many things, I'm a researcher at the University of Queensland, a consultant of activism and community engagement, a Youth Ambassador for the Inspire Foundation and a Researcher for Project Australia. Most of them are for non-profits and within the activism sector.

I am just writing to check on your progress - do you still need any help because if you do, let me know and I will try my best to help you in any way I can. I also work with Volunteering Queensland so I know quite a number of non-profits or organisations and individuals in the youth activism area. :-)

I would also like to touch base and just stay in contact with you to learn and also hopefully bounce ideas with you as you embark on your life-changing experience. Congratulations, mate and please let me know if I can be of any help at all!

Look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers,
Ehon

Dear Australian youth and youth organizations,

Hello. My name is Sam Hanft and I am a fourth year student at Pomona College in the United States. I recently made it to the final round of competition for the Thomas J. Watson fellowship, which provides funds for a year of travel and research on a particular theme outside of the United States. For my project, I have proposed to work with various organizations to study youth activism and civic engagement. In particular, I hope to interview youth from around the world to find out why they decide to become activists and what drives them to keep working to make the world a better place.

I believe that having a generation of youth interested in working to better the social, economic, and environmental conditions of their communities and the world at large is essential for the future of our planet. Through direct participation with organizations, I hope to learn how different groups of people empower youth to participate in social movements and make positive social change.

I am interested in spending part of my trip with Australian youth organizations, helping out however I can and learning about your efforts. I would be very grateful for the opportunity to speak with you in more detail about my project, either over the phone, via Skype, or through email. I only have several weeks to finalize the details of my project, so the sooner we get in touch, the better. Thank you for your time and I hope that we will be able to work together!

Best regards,

Sam
