The Inspire Foundation’s Reach Out Pro (www.reachoutpro.com.au) provides access and advice for health care
professionals and others who work and care for young people on a range of
technologies and online resources that can be used to enhance the effectiveness
of psychosocial support and mental health care provided to young people. Reach Out Pro is closely linked to ReachOut.com which provides
young people aged 14 to 25 with access to an online community and trusted
information and advice to improve their mental health and wellbeing.
We are currently
evaluating the effectiveness of Reach Out Pro and would appreciate the support
of professionals who work with young people in two ways:
1.
Help
us to understand the impact of ReachOut Pro (www.reachoutpro.com.au) by completing
our online user profiling survey. This
study, which is being conducted in partnership with the Brain & Mind
Research Institute (BMRI) at the University of Sydney and Orygen Youth Health Research
Centre at the University of Melbourne aims to (1) allow health care
professionals to provide critical feedback about Reach Out Pro; (2) understand
user characteristics and their attitudes about Reach Out Pro; (3) assess the
usefulness of Reach Out Pro in helping health care professionals to support
young people with mental health difficulties; and (4) explore the opportunities
and challenges faced by mental health professionals in incorporating
ReachOut.com and Reach Out Pro in their day-to-day practice. To
participate, please visit http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=aFULm7UUBuyN_2fbhl4nNgaA_3d_3d
by Wednesday 4th November 2009.
2.
Do you have a good news story to tell
about using ReachOut Pro? We are looking to interview Australian
health care professionals who have utilised ReachOut Pro (www.reachoutpro.com.au) in their
practice. The interviews will explore in-depth how ReachOut Pro has
benefited the young people you work with, as well as your suggestions for
improving the site. If you would like to participate, please contact
Michelle Blanchard (michelle@inspire.org.au
or 0403171989) by Friday 6th November to arrange a telephone
interview.
Thanks for your support,
Michelle
