Greetings Everyone,
I teach at a bilingual (two-way) school up in East Arnhem Land, and I really want to go over to Canada to.. teach in/ learn about their bilingual schools.
In particular their Inuit/English schools. So that I can bring back some ideas/methods/etc, that they use to combat the issues involved in the bilingual education using a mainstream (English/French/Japanese ..etc) language and a minority (only recently a written) language in a remote location. (production of materials etc).
I was wondering if people could help me with:
- suggestions of scholarships/grants that might assist in the costs involved
-contacts in Canada (esp. in districts that have Inuit-/English bilingual schools - but really anyone that may be useful)
-Any ideas/suggestions
-Stories of experiences in any bilingual systems outside of the Northern Territory
-sundry :)
Take care,
Grace Hooper
